东方大学成立于第二次世界大战之后，那一年也正好是菲律宾获得联合国得承认。东方大学用了半世纪的时间，致力推动高质量教学的发展方针，使得东方大学，许多国内执照考试通过率方面都有很好的成绩，尤其是他的医学院，与菲律宾国立大学、圣多汤玛士大学的医学院并列为菲律宾最佳的医学院。
    在1954，东方大学创立了另一个Caloocan校区，提供更多更好的课系给越来越多的学子。并且在1955年，在奎松市创立了他们现在引以为豪的医学院及自己的附设医院。
